Scottish farmers are being offered £169/t ex-farm for malting barley contracts, the highest price paid to Scottish growers in years, though most crops are already contracted. Feed barley is quoted at £125/t and feeding wheat at £140-148/t.
A smaller projected global supply and a weaker pound, plus US heat hurting yields, are lifting barley values, which supports feed grain prices in the UK and Europe.
