A University of Wisconsin press release describes mouse research in which five weeks of dietary methionine deprivation led to weight loss and better blood glucose in obese mice. The findings were presented at Experimental Biology 2017.
The authors suggest the approach could be an adjunct obesity treatment.
This is early-stage human-health research with no effect on feed supply or demand, so it has no meaningful price implication for methionine.
