An investment banker argues in a FoodNavigator opinion piece that lab-grown meat will eventually displace much conventional meat. He says falling production costs will drive consumer adoption within 10 to 15 years, and that feed companies should invest in lab meat to hedge that risk.
The piece cites Hampton Creek's plans to sell lab-grown meat in US supermarkets.
This is a long-term, speculative view with no near-term change in feed demand. If meat consumption falls, demand for feed grains and meals would weaken over time, but this is not a current price driver.
