EU poultry meat production grew 4.4% in 2016 and is forecast to rise 1.7% in 2017 and 0.8% in 2018, with avian influenza outbreaks cutting output in several countries. EU broiler prices reached EUR 182/100kg in June, while Brazilian prices fell to EUR 85/100kg and US prices rose to EUR 219/100kg.
Avian influenza is restraining EU supply and export availability while US prices are rising on strong global demand, which supports poultry prices and feed demand in exporting regions.
