A China Pharmaceutical Network review says world amino acid production was close to 8 million tonnes in 2016 and is expected to reach 11 million tonnes by 2022. Amino acids used as feed additives such as lysine and threonine make up about 52.5% of the global market, with China as a major supplier.
Expected growth in amino acid output, led by Chinese supply, points to ample lysine and methionine availability for feed makers. Strong Chinese supply tends to keep feed-additive prices contained over the longer term.
