CBOT wheat, Kansas wheat, corn and soybeans closed higher overnight, with Winnipeg canola also up. Wheat firmed on a Statistics Canada estimate of 25.5 Mt, below the 26.2 Mt expected, and strong weekly export sales of 536,000 t.
A smaller Canadian crop and firm export demand support wheat prices, while a weaker dollar helps US and Canadian grain competitiveness. Spring wheat weakness on physical delivery pressure partly offsets the gains.
