Pesquera Exalmar reported net income of USD 11.7 million for the first half of 2017, up sharply from a loss a year earlier. Sales rose 99% on higher capture and processing, while average fishmeal selling prices fell 6% versus the second 2016 season due to the larger 2.80 million tonne first-season quota.
The larger Peruvian quota and lower average fishmeal selling prices confirm ample fishmeal supply, which keeps downward pressure on fishmeal prices for feed buyers.
