The ringgit opened firmer against the US dollar on 7 September, quoted at 4.2200/2230 from 4.2370/2400 the previous day. The move followed better-than-expected July export growth of 30.9% and record reserves of US$100.5 billion, despite tensions on the Korean peninsula.
Stronger export data and a firmer ringgit lower the local cost of dollar-priced imports. The move is routine and has little effect on feed prices.
