DTN analysis says USDA and AAFC data point to canola stocks-to-use falling for a fourth straight year in 2017/18. Canada's ratio is projected at 3.4%, the lowest in Statistics Canada data back to 1996, while global rapeseed stocks-to-use is forecast at 6.9%.
Historically tight canola and rapeseed carryouts support meal and oil values, which matters for feed buyers sourcing canola meal. Larger model-based production estimates could partly offset the tightness.
