The U.S. Soybean Export Council ran a seminar in Mexico on pricing and risk management for soybean meal, attended by more than 20 staff of a Mexican feed processor. Topics included basis trading, futures and options, margining and hedging strategies.
Participants had recently begun hedging their soybean meal imports, and sales of U.S. soymeal to feed processors and livestock producers have been scaling up.
This is a promotional and training event with no direct supply or price effect. It does indicate steady growth in Mexican demand for U.S. soymeal, which is a mild supportive factor for meal exports.
After 977 past trade events, Soybean Meal moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (48% higher; middle half -1.5% to +1.8%), and +0.1% over 20.
