IFFO, the marine ingredients organisation, argues that claims that fishmeal is unsustainable or scarce are inaccurate. It says about 70 percent of global fishmeal now goes to aquaculture feed, and that marine ingredients remain foundational to aquafeeds.
The industry position that fishmeal supply is adequate and supplementary rather than replaceable supports stable demand expectations for fishmeal. It does not change current supply.
