Korean firm Daesang said it has developed L-Histidine, a semi-essential amino acid, becoming the third company globally to produce it industrially. The company targets 30% of a market it values at about 100 billion won by 2020, and it already has supply deals with fish feed producers.
This is a niche amino acid with limited feed-grade volume, so the new supplier has little effect on mainstream feed commodity prices, though it adds competition in specialty salmon feed additives.
