Lincolnshire Live reports that more than 2,000 people have signed a petition opposing Lincoln Proteins' plan to seek planning permission for a rendering plant at Villa Farm, Norton Disney. Opponents cite smells, traffic and ecological concerns.
The plant has not yet been submitted for approval and no product details have been released.
Local opposition to a planned rendering plant has little direct effect on feed or commodity prices. Any approved capacity would add modest UK supply of tallow and meat and bone meal over time.
