High-oleic sunflower seed and oil are gaining market share, with planted area rising from 120 thousand ha in 2013/14 to 200 thousand ha currently in Ukraine. Exports reached 224 thousand tonnes in 2016/17, with Italy, UK and Netherlands as top importers.
Growing premium high-oleic demand supports a price premium over standard sunflower oil, but the segment is small and has little effect on broad feed meal or oil prices.
