Masienda Bodega is launching a line of heirloom landrace corn tortillas in about 200 U.S. stores, including Whole Foods. The company plans to make 30,000 to 40,000 tortillas daily from landrace corn imported from Mexico and organically farmed U.S. corn.
This is a niche specialty product with negligible effect on feed corn supply, demand, or prices.
