Canadian canola processors crushed 204,820 tonnes in the week ended Wednesday, the second-busiest week on record. The crush for the 2017-18 crop year to date is 1.48 million tonnes, below 1.56 million a year earlier.
Processor margins are about $40 per tonne below year-ago levels.
Strong crush supports demand for canola seed and meal, but margins well below last year's levels could slow future processing. Mixed signals leave the price impact modest.
