Atlantic Panamax freight rates for US Gulf grain to China, Japan and Korea concluded just over US$40/mt, about US$2-3/mt below early October levels. Coaster rates into the Azov and North Africa were more volatile, and Handysize rates in the eastern basin were steady.
Lower Panamax grain freight reduces the delivered cost of US exports to Asia, which supports US export competitiveness and slightly weighs on the basis at export positions.
