GlobalSource Partners' November 2017 base-case forecast for Peru expects global growth above 3.5% and a stronger-than-expected domestic rebound from the El Niño and Odebrecht shocks. It projects 4% growth for 2018, driven by public investment, a recovery in private investment, and rising consumer confidence.
The forecast also sees inflation near 2% and only a slight weakening of the sol in 2018.
A stronger Peruvian economy supports domestic feed and protein demand, but the expected modest sol depreciation makes Peruvian-origin fishmeal slightly cheaper in local terms for export sellers.
