Blood meal prices in the central U.S. have fallen to their lowest level since USDA began reporting the feedstuff in 2014, at $587.50 per ton as of October 17, 2017. Analysts link the decline to a buildup of supply from higher beef and pork slaughter.
Higher rendering volumes from increased slaughter add protein meal supply, pressuring prices for blood meal and meat and bone meal and reducing feed ingredient costs.
