China is removing its 11% value-added tax on U.S. DDGS, effective immediately, according to government officials after talks between Presidents Trump and Xi. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties imposed in January remain in place.
China imported 6.5 million tonnes of DDGS in 2015, about 51% of U.S. DDGS exports.
The tax cut makes U.S. DDGS more competitive in China, a major buyer, which supports export demand and DDGS prices although the remaining duties limit the gain.
