A Mexican court rejected an appeal seeking to lift the ban on commercial cultivation of genetically modified corn. Mexico currently allows GM corn only for scientific use on up to 1 hectare and for non-commercial pilot schemes on up to 10 hectares under judicial supervision.
The ruling keeps Mexico's domestic GM corn planting restricted, so it does little to change near-term US corn export demand, which depends mainly on imports already permitted.
After 439 past neutral policy events, Corn moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.3% to +1.2%), and +1.1% over 20.
