The Canola Council of Canada completed a trade mission to China alongside Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay. A Canola Dialogue in Beijing ended with an MOU with the China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Foodstuffs (CFNA) to share information and cooperate on events, but it included no volume commitments or trade guarantees.
Without binding volume commitments, the MOU does little to change near-term Chinese canola import demand, which remains dependent on crush margins versus soybeans. Canola meal and seed prices see no clear immediate shift from this news.
