CME Group announced the launch of Black Sea Wheat FOB and Black Sea Corn FOB financially settled futures, set to begin trading on December 18, 2017, pending regulatory review. Each contract is 50 metric tonnes, settled in US dollars, with monthly and half-monthly settlement periods.
The contracts track Platts Black Sea cash assessments.
The new contracts give traders a cleared hedge for Black Sea wheat and corn exposure, which may improve price transparency for buyers. They do not on their own change supply or demand.
