DonBioTech announced construction of a $250 million advanced grain processing plant in Volgodonsk, Russia, with launch planned for fall 2018. The 250,000-tonne-per-year facility will produce lysine, gluten, starch and bran, with Evonik as joint venture partner.
The plant adds a new domestic source of lysine, a key amino acid for animal feed, and output is aimed mainly at Middle East export markets. The effect on lysine prices is modest until the plant runs, since it is a 2018 project.
