Bank of Ayudhya forecasts the baht could reach 31.75 per dollar, a four-year high, in 2018 if the Federal Reserve does not raise rates as expected. It expects the baht to trade between 32.3 and 33.5 in the first half of 2018.
The bank also expects the Bank of Thailand to raise rates in the second half of 2018.
A forecast baht rally would further raise Thai export costs for agricultural goods, and the currency outlook is driven mainly by Fed policy and capital flows.
