A Reuters poll of more than 40 FX strategists taken Dec. 4-6 forecasts the loonie at C$1.25 per US dollar in 12 months, roughly 80 US cents.
Some forecasters see 83 cents if NAFTA uncertainty clears and the Bank of Canada resumes rate hikes.
The forecast reflects expectations that trade uncertainty and rate policy will drive the Canadian dollar. A stronger loonie would modestly raise the USD cost of Canadian feed exports, but the poll is a forecast rather than a new shock.
