CoBank reports that recent egg market shocks have made US producers more cautious about converting to cage-free production. Around 72% of the layer flock would need to be cage-free by 2025 to meet food company commitments, but the cage-free share was 15.6% in 2017.
Slower cage-free conversion keeps conventional layer flock levels steady, limiting shifts in egg-related feed demand over the coming years.
