Vietnam's central bank lowered its reference exchange rate for the dong against the dollar by 10 dong to 22,406 per dollar on January 25. The trading band remains plus or minus 3 percent, giving a ceiling of 23,075 and a floor of 21,739.
The central bank also reported foreign reserves at an all-time high of 53 billion dollars.
A small move in the managed reference rate signals a stable dong, with little direct effect on feed grain prices. Strong reserves reduce pressure for abrupt currency moves that could affect Vietnamese feed import costs.
