The Transpacific Stabilization Agreement, a US transpacific carrier discussion group, will close on 8 February 2018 after Maersk Line, K Line, NYK and Zim exited. Remaining members include Cosco-OOCL, CMA CGM, Evergreen, MSC, HMM, Yang Ming and Hapag-Lloyd.
The dissolution removes a forum for coordinated carrier pricing, which could increase rate competition on Asia-US container lanes. Lower container rates are generally neutral to bearish for ocean freight costs on feed imports.
