Vietnam lifted its suspension of U.S. DDGS imports in September 2017 after a 2016 quarantine-pest ban. Vietnam has since bought more than 213,000 tons of U.S. DDGS in the first months of the 2017/18 marketing year, a steady uptick.
The report credits joint efforts by the U.S. Grains Council, APHIS and USTR for reopening the market.
Restored access to Vietnam, historically a top DDGS buyer, supports U.S. export demand and firmer DDGS values. The reopening adds to Southeast Asian demand that has already set records this marketing year.
