SunRice raised its estimate for base-grade medium grain paddy for the 2017 crop to A$335-365 per tonne, up A$35 from its August indication. The uplift reflects firmer international rice prices, and the company expects the 2018 Riverina crop to be about 600,000 tonnes, down from 802,000 tonnes.
Higher international prices and a smaller Australian crop support Australian paddy values and tighten regional supply.
