Japan reported its first highly pathogenic avian flu outbreak of the winter, an H5N6 case at a farm with 51,000 broilers in Kagawa prefecture. Further outbreaks were confirmed in Bangladesh, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey, and H5N6 was found in wild birds in Germany and the UK.
Outbreaks spread across several major poultry-producing countries tighten chicken supply and can lift chicken prices, while feed demand changes little at this scale.
