The Rock Island Engineer District released a HEC-RAS computer model of the Upper Mississippi River covering 320 river miles from Lock and Dam 19 to Thebes, Illinois. The model cost about $500,000 and 17 months to develop and will replace several existing flood-risk models.
The model is a flood-risk planning tool rather than a supply event, so it has no direct effect on barge capacity or grain prices.
Not enough comparable past events yet for a historical read.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
