Argentina's central bank left its benchmark rate unchanged at 27.5%, citing inflation as the main policy challenge. It disclosed that it intervened with about $400 million the prior week to keep the dollar within a 20 to 20.50 peso range.
The bank said it will continue occasional interventions to support the currency.
Continued central bank support for the peso slows depreciation, which keeps Argentine export selling prices from falling sharply in dollar terms and modestly supports soybean and meal export pricing in the near term.
