Commonwealth Bank strategists expect the Australian dollar to rebound in April after hitting a new 2018 low against the US dollar. The fall was attributed to month-end hedging adjustments by Australian fund managers holding large offshore equity portfolios.
Currency moves driven by hedging flows are temporary and have little direct effect on feed commodity prices. A weaker AUD can marginally support Australian export competitiveness for grains and meal.
