Ukrainian sunflower seed production for 2017/18 was cut by about 6.1% in yield to roughly 13.8 million tonnes after April frost, May cold and summer drought. Processing capacity is about 18 million tonnes per year and is expanding as new extraction plants come online.
Export prices for crude sunflower oil are the main factor determining processing margins.
