published its annual report showing Morocco shipped about 1.59 million tonnes of phosphate rock from occupied Western Sahara in 2017, valued at roughly $142.7 million across 27 bulk vessels. Exports fell from 2016 largely because the number of importers dropped to the lowest ever recorded.
Fewer importers and a shifting shipping route from Western Sahara reduce available phosphate rock supply in the trade, which can tighten phosphate rock and DAP/TSP availability for buyers over time.
