Vietnam's central bank lowered its reference exchange rate by 2 dong to 22,475 VND per USD on Monday, April 9. The trading band remains plus or minus 3 percent, with a ceiling of 23,153 and a floor of 21,709.
Vietnam's central exchange rate rose 1.6 percent in late 2017 compared with early 2017.
The small reduction keeps the dong close to its recent level and gives no clear signal for import prices. Vietnamese feed buyers paying in dollars for corn and soymeal will see little change in local-currency costs from this move.
