Auction receipts for test barns reached 40,600 head in the week, 14,000 above the previous week and 6,000 above a year earlier. Yearling prices were steady to $1 higher and stocker cattle were $5 to $6 higher, while slaughter cow prices declined on larger receipts and a lower cow cutout.
Steady-to-higher feeder prices support feedlot input costs, but larger runs and weaker cow prices point to mixed signals for near-term cattle demand.
