SunSirs reported that on March 8, 2021 the average price of first-grade soybean oil in China exceeded 10,000 yuan per tonne, the first time since 2012. The price had fallen steeply after 2013 and was near 5,200 yuan at the end of 2018 before recovering.
Higher soybean oil prices in China reflect tight global vegetable oil supply, which lifts edible oil costs and supports substitution demand for meal-based feed inputs. Feed buyers should expect firm oilseed-complex pricing.
