American Patriot Holdings and the Port of Plaquemines signed an MOU on March 27 with four St. Louis ports to build a container-focused collaboration on the rivers. The vessels, carrying up to 2,500 containers, have completed model testing and final design is underway.
This is the same development as the related item on container barges, and it is a long-range container project rather than a bulk grain driver, so price impact is negligible.
