Bert Quin has returned to the fertiliser trade after 13 years, importing two consignments of reactive phosphate rock (RPR) from Algeria. He launched Quinfert, an importing and wholesaling company, working with distributors Marsden Agri in the North Island and Fert Wholesale Direct in the South Island.
He argues RPR deserves more promotion as a slow-release, lower-runoff phosphate option.
Small-scale RPR imports into New Zealand add a modest alternative phosphate supply but are unlikely to move global phosphate prices. The effect on feed commodities is negligible.

Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
