PetroChina has started cutting natural gas deliveries to some industrial clients and raising prices for large buyers, according to Reuters sources. The move follows December shortages in northern China and aims to limit the risk of new shortages this winter.
Chinese gas rationing and higher prices point to strong Asian gas demand and tight LNG supply, which supports LNG and gas prices. Higher energy costs could also raise fertilizer and processing costs.
After 13 past bullish policy events, Natural Gas moved a median -1.7% over 5 sessions (46% higher; middle half -2.4% to +4.5%), and +5.3% over 20.
