The Georgia Department of Agriculture ended price discovery for chicken processors in February 2017 after the Georgia Dock index drew suspicion. Processors had reported prices verbally, and attempts to replace the index drew no participation.
The end of the Georgia Dock removes a regional chicken price benchmark, which may affect how contract broiler prices are referenced but does not directly shift supply.
