A group of meat distributors and grocers filed a federal antitrust suit in Illinois against major US broiler producers and Agri Stats. It alleges a cartel curtailed breeder flocks and manipulated the Georgia Dock benchmark from 2008 to 2016.
Litigation could bring legal costs and possible damages for producers, but it does not change current broiler supply, so near-term price effect is modest.
