Timac Agro UK has launched TOP PHOS, a phosphate fertilizer with a new chemical formula that stays available to plants in both alkaline and acidic soils. In a wheat trial it lifted yields by 0.76 t/ha compared with TSP, and grassland trials showed similar gains.
The company says the product is the result of research with more than 100 universities and institutes.
This is a single product launch with trial results from one company, so it has no measurable effect on phosphate supply or price. Its significance is limited to product competition among phosphate fertilizers.
