The State Bank of Vietnam raised its reference exchange rate by 8 dong to 22,575 per dollar on June 12, with the trading band set at plus or minus 3 percent. Commercial bank rates moved differently, with BIDV up 5 dong and Vietcombank unchanged.
A small weakening of the dong modestly raises the cost of dollar-priced feed imports into Vietnam. The move is routine and has little effect on global commodity prices.
