Hay supplies in Australia have dwindled after Victoria and South Australia used up two seasons' worth since January. Graziers in central and northwest NSW are bidding for cottonseed, faba beans and cereals, with delivered Darling Downs feed barley and cottonseed at $410 and $350 respectively.
Replacement demand for grain as hay runs out, combined with dry paddocks, supports feed barley and cottonseed prices through winter.
