Queensland grainfed beef processor Kilcoy Pastoral Co has completed a A$120 million upgrade and expansion of its southeast Queensland plant over the past two years. The project is aimed at higher throughput and efficiency, and is owned by China's Hosen Capital, which is also building a vertically integrated food business including US and Chinese acquisitions.
Added processing capacity in Australia can draw more cattle into grainfed beef production and support export demand for beef, a modest supportive factor for feeder and fat cattle prices in the region.
After 40 past logistics events, Live Cattle moved a median -0.3% over 5 sessions (45% higher; middle half -1.4% to +1.4%), and -1.9% over 20.
