Indian 5% broken parboiled rice export prices rose $5 to $398-402 per tonne this week after hitting the year's low, on hopes of increased Chinese buying. Vietnamese 5% broken prices eased to $450-455 from a multi-year peak of $465-475 as domestic supply rises.
Higher Indian offers and easing Vietnamese prices point to a mixed Asian rice market, with Bangladesh's new 28% import duty curbing a key import source. Rice moves little in feed grain markets, so the price effect for feed buyers is limited.
